CARB-BOOM ENERGY GEL TO FUEL COMPAQ HOUSTON MARATHON
2 November, 2001 – Houston, TX – Carb-BOOM Energy Gel will be the fuel of choice on course at this year’s Compaq Houston Marathon. Carb-BOOM, Inc, based in San Diego, recently signed on to be the “Official Energy Gel Sponsor” of the event.
The Compaq Houston Marathon, celebrating its 30th anniversary, will be held on January 20, 2002. As Houston’s largest single-day sporting event, organizers are expecting more than 10,000 runners to participate in the 4 weekend events that include the 26.2 mile marathon, the new ęp 13.1 miler, the Uptown Park 4 Miler and the Texas Children’s Hospital Fun Run.

An executive team of volunteers and an additional 5,000 volunteers who assist on race weekend administer the Compaq Houston Marathon. The race is the city's largest single-day sporting event and is a member of Running USA, a nonprofit group devoted to improving the status of road racing in the United States. The 2002 event will be Compaq's second year to sponsor the Houston Marathon.
